I think there was a misunderstanding in the text. Saul was only training him in the excersise technique.

I am not saying that the story is being written wrong, please don't think that, but as I was reading it I was like .... "WOW, disobedient Squire's gonna get it"


The Knights of Solamnia are basically the elite fighting forces of the Solamic army. They are a military group and as such there would be reprimand for breaking from their strict code of conduct and training, ESPECIALLY if it is a Squire who is under the direct tutelage and mentorship of a Knight... Squires are basically a Knight's slave until they achieve their own Knighthood.

Lac, understand, as I said, you aren't writing anything out of scope, but if he is going to be doing this stuff with Saul he will eventually need to be disciplined.



It's a military thing, if they see him even doing the exercises and not doing the military's style of P.T. he is going to get in trouble, especially as a Squire


Like I said man, you aren't doing anything that I think you should stop doing, but a Squire is typically between the ages of 6 - 18, so he is young and under the mentorship of an established Knight who's honor is also on the line if the Squire breaks military form.

The Squires handle all the mundane things for the Knights and are under direct supervision of the Knight they're assigned to and if the Knights superior sees the Squire conducting him/herself in a way that isn't appropriate OR against the strict rules of the Orders, it causes a domino affect in the ranks withthe Squire getting the worst of it since he/she is the last in line.

And when they aren't with their Knight in person, they are to be in some sort of training or chore assigned to them by that Knight.

Saul's intentions are good but unfortunately, his Squire has strayed from the path and will ultimately be punished for it.

I understand, reprimand is to be expected for the squire. By no means was offense taken. I just thought I should clear that point up.

I am just saying, it's our story, we can do what we want, but there are certain things we all have to keep realistic, and a young Squire's military career, given the context, hangs in the balance
