PostSubject: Characters for Shards of Krynn   Mon Apr 27, 2009 1:03 pm

NAME: Rayann Padraig of Glen Durel

Physical Description:
Rayann is the picture of feminine daintiness. Standing a whole head shorter (and then some) than her twin brother Rorie, she stands only 5’6”. Her hair, unlike her twins, is a silvery white color and falls past her shoulders in ringlet like curls. Also unlike Rorie’s, her eyes are a strange lavender color and when she looks upon someone, it’s almost as though she looks past the physical being before her and reaches deep into their very soul and her skin an almost flawless ivory color. While she doesn’t mean to make anyone uneasy, more than once she has caused large men to squirm under her quiet scrutiny. A devout follower of Solinari, she wears pristine, white robes indicating her devotion to her God.

Personality:
Known as “The Quiet One”, Rayann doesn’t talk verbally much at all. Not that she can’t, she simply chooses to allow her actions to speak for her. She communicates with her twin using only what can be described as “Twin Talk”. A sophisticated, highly evolved form of communication almost all twins develop while in the womb. Her and Rorie are no different in that aspect. While her brother likes to immerse himself into the social stream of society, Rayann tends to stay out of the mainstream and focus her attention on her studies and developing her skills as a Magi.

Flaws & Quirks:
One of the reasons Rayann tends to keep herself distanced from the society is the fact she is still an emerging Empath. This causes some trouble for her as the need to maintain the balance of the world of Krynn is first and foremost in the young Magi’s mind. While she values life, she knows there are times when a life must be forfeit in order to allow the balance to remain steady. This is not to say she doesn’t take the loss of life lightly and on more than one occasion her empathetic abilities have caused trouble with her Magi abilities.

History & Background:
The rumors regarding the twins parentage began to float about the land of Krynn almost from the day they were born. She’s heard them whispered where ever she travels. Refusing to believe a deity would ever parent a child with anything other than another deity, Rayann dismisses the rumors as just that. Rumors. But there have been occasions when the twins, both united and separately, have been able to do things that seemed simply unbelievable, even to the twins themselves. Her rationalization is that they were in the right place at the right time and everything aligned perfectly for them to do what ever it was they needed to do. During those times of seemingly impossible abilities, it has always been when the twins worked in perfect synchronicity with each other.

Skills & Powers: Rayann was a white robed Mage and a devout follower of Solinari, and like Rorie, she too has dedicated her life to the study of wizardry. The devout following she has given and still gives her God, she is granted power for her devotion and service. Due to the difficult language the spells she and her brother learn, she tends to spend the majority of her time reading through the many scrolls, tombs and books that allow her to practice her Magi abilities and grow stronger in them.

Now, Rayann is a devoted follower of Lunitari, the Goddess of Red Mages. She and her daughter, Kali, realized that in order for true balance to be restored to Krynn, they had to find that middle ground and walk a fine line. With her knowledge of the WHite MAgic and Kali's knowledge of the Black Magic, and with the skills they have learned in Lunitari's grace, they will use their powers and hopefully unite Krynn and restore the balance once more.

Physical Description:
Myth is something of an oddity among the elven people as he stands well over six foot in height as apposed to the average 5 and a half footish elf. He has the sharp angular features of an elf, but he is showing signs of a more human like musculature. He has a long main of hair that is thick crimson in color. It has been said when the moonlight strikes Myth just right his hair appears to be the color of blood. He watches the world with a set of piercing emerald green eyes. Though only a mear adept in swordsmanship he holds the gaze of a future master, a trait he is known to use when dealing with sticky situations. It has however gotten him into alsmost as much trouble as it has gotten him out of.

Personality:
At first one would pass Myth off as seemingly cold and uncaring mixed with a healthy dose of youthful brash arrogance. In truth his seemingly cold nature is infact an inherant ability to stay calm and think out a situation. Heshows an intense level of loyalty to those he choses to allie himself with. He will fight tooth and nail for the cause and safety of his compatriots. However should the situation prove dire enough that Myth can not forsee/find a possible way for all in the party to survive Myth is willing to make the call that no other person can and sacrifice who or what is necessary as he believes the needs of the mission can outway the needs of the individual.

Flaws & Quirks:
Of Myth's many quirks is his sense of honor. While it is hard to see how a person like Myth can have a sense of honor, rest assured he has one and it chooses the oddest times and strangest ways to manifest. As for any real flaws it can be said Myth is loyal to a fault, blindingly so. There is also the matter of his temper in the face of certain subjects such as questioning his loyalty to a cause he has devoted himself to. However his most crucial flaw is his bloodlust. Myth loves the thrill of combat and enjoys the sensation of peace he attains after the kill.

History & Background:
Myth's background is rooted in mystery. Few people in the land of Krynn truly know where the waarrior came from. It is said he bares some relation to a prominent syvanesti family, but these rumors do not come from Myth himself. They evidence is actually drawn from various altercations with several other sylvanesti elves, but as of yet no one has garnered any concrete answers from anyone.

What is known about Myth is that he currently is an enlisted member of her majesties forces. His unique skills have landed him in missions specializing in stealth and speed. It is a role he is glad to fill and one his commanders are glad to send him on given his occasional fits of bloodlust. Despite this however his commanders forsee greatness in his future knowing he will go far if he can bring his more uncontrolable tendencies into order. One way they hope to achieve this is through the man who teaches Myth his sword arts, Urulur Bronzestar. However it is a vain hope as unbeknownst to many eventually to succeed his teacher Myth will one day be required to kill his master, though not for reasons one might think.Urulur has trained many warriors in his lifetime however none have achieved true success as they have all perished at his hand upon their final training. As one might guess no one really knows why this is, and it appears Myth is on the path to becoming the next soul to attempt succeed where many have failed. The future of this warrior is clouded in mist.

Skills and Powers:
Myth has a natural affinity for melee combat and strategy, and as time moves on and more experience is gained it will likely begin to show and draw the attention of his commanders. However when you are part of an army these to traits only stand out when you have elevated them to an art, and even though there is a distinct difference between himself and many f his fellow soldiers he just hasn't hit that point in his skills yet. The ability of Myth's that does stand out however is his speed. His elven nature places his dexterity above many of his fellows, but there is something more that many just can't quite put their finger on. Despite his rather large size Myth has proven to be unnaturally fast and it has commented that since his joining of the army and since the begining of his training with Urulur, he is getting faster. This alone opens prospects for his future.

Name: Kwinn

Race: Human

Physical Description: Kwinn is a human male in his early thirties, he is in good shape. Kwinn wears heavy brown/red leather leggings and heavy high leather boots. Kwinn has similar leather forearm covers for protection in combat. His leathers are covered in druidic symbols both in common and Elvish. The symbols are a slightly darker color than the rest of his clothing and are only visible up close. The runes are not magical in nature.

Kwinn has long brown hair to his waist and keeps it bunched and braided in a knotty dread lock style. He does not shave much and will sport an unkempt beard. Kwinn has blue eyes and a few tattoos. Kwinn usually goes shirtless and does not fret too much over hygiene.

Personality: Kwinn is a dweller of the wilds, he has not been to a city or sizable town for many months. Kwinn is somewhat of a beast master and loves all things wild and free. Kwinn loves to fight and drink and is good at both. Kwinn holds druids in high regard and will actively lend aid to all good and lawful druids. Kwinn is friendly but somewhat boastful, his skills for living off the land are superior. Kwinn is not particularly spiritual nor does he spook easy.

Flaws and Quirks: Kwinn has been in the wilds for a good amount of time and lacks social skills and manners. He does not care for wealthy townsfolk who cannot take care of themselves and bathe too much. Kwinn has a strong dislike for Huruks and will engage them on sight. In Kwinn's mind the Huruks/Orcs are the one race that cannot seem to live in harmony with the natural world. Kwinn has very little use for gold and such will not abide people who lust after it.

History and Background: Kwinn is a ranger with barbarian tendencies and very little spell abilities (save some healing and animal related skills). Kwinn makes a small living as a hunter and guide and has spent time among the wilds elves and human druid communities of Krynn. Kwinn arranges safe travel through the wildest parts of Krynn for merchants, druids and anyone he takes a liking to.

Kwinn came from a seemingly normal human community and struck out on his own after some of his family were slain by Huruks. Kwinn has two surviving siblings but has not spoken to them in many years.

Skills and Powers: Kwinn is a skilled two handed fighter, he fights with a thick caber-like staff and a short wide sword. His caber is studded in iron and made from solid oak, his sword is a rusty looking piece of work that may not even have an edge to it. Kwinn uses both of these more like clubs than graceful weapons. Kwinn will punch an apponent just as likely as using his weapons, his thick leather gloves operate like knuckle weapons.

Kwinn has some influence over average lesser wild animals, they seem to respect him. He also has some basic healing spells. Once a day Kwinn can become undetectable in the surrounding wilds for up to an hour, Kwinn can sometimes expand this skill to include others. Kwinn goes through phases where he will study hard to learn new magic, but these are few and far between.

Name: Piramay

Race: Appears to be half elven

Physical Description: She stands roughly average human height with a more elven build in regards to her bone structure. Her flame red hair and scarlet eyes in tandem can give her both an alluring yet searing appearance. Piramay is often dressed in robes or dresses of deep red or ashen gray. Her dark crimson cloak and ashwood staff are the only constants in her attire.

Personality: Despite her affinity for fire magics Piramay can be rather cold hearted. She will warn a companion only once that they are to never stand between her and a target lest they get burned (literally). She feels that any injury incurred by oneself because one did not follow this rule is justly deserved lesson... if they live.

Her sense of loyalty can be as fleeting as her emotions it would seem at first glance. This is not the truth in most cases. It is usually in truth a matter of conflicting loyalties. She is quite familiar with the concepts of loyalty and devotion but her manner of adhering to them is strange to say the least.

Flaws and Quirks:
She loves fire and everything about it, and as one would expect she has a keen dislike of the cold. ((sorry she is real basic in this regard.))

History and Background: If asked of her past Piramay will simply smile and say “That is a secret between me and my past.” She will not tolerate being questioned on the matter and will only offer information if she feels like it.

In truth she once served a mage lord who would have seen himself become a god, but was cast down and sealed away for all eternity. Graced with a limited form of eternal life she works and schemes to one day find her lord's sealed citadel. She works for whom she wishes when she wishes and can be as unpredictable as any wildfire.

Skills and Powers: As far as mundane skills are concerned Piramay spent many years working as an inquisitor for a religious cult. She takes some small amount of pride in the amount of pain she can force a person to endure. As part of her inquisitorial training she took some training in the handling of daggers. She is by far no expert in knife play but she knows enough to deal with your common variety cut throat and brigand.

In the more mystical aspect of things as one would expect from her overall manner she is a wizard that has focused upon the elements of fire and air. She has poured over fire in all its aspects and has dabbled in the schools of air to augment her flame spells. Her skills are not limited to only those things but they are her primary focus. She has a plethora of personally concocted spells at her disposal that often give her an edge over other wizards of her specialization. Her only anathema is obviously cold magics

NAME: Tanjee

Physical Description:
Tanjee is a Silvaesti Elf with strawberry blond hair and green eyes. 5'5" in height with a lithe form with feminine curves.

Personality:
Tanjee is a "glass half full" kind of Elf. While she knows there are dark forces at work in Krynn, she feels as though good will always prevail over the bad and the light will always chase away the dark. A follower of Mishikal, the Goddess of Healing, Tanjee uses her abilities when ever and where ever it is needed.

Flaws & Quirks:
Tanjee is rather opinionated and finds herself wishing she would learn to control her comments and out bursts better. Speaking her mind is not always the best diplomatic approach, but in her eyes, the truth is something that no one shold be ashamed of. It is what it is and you can never hide from it.

History & Background:
A child of the Silvanesti Elves, Tanjee grew up in the Elven city of Silvanost under the tutelage of her mother, a Preistess of Mishikal. While Tanjee wishes she could be as good a healer as her mother, she doubts her own abilites at times.

Skills & Powers:
A follower of the Goddess of Healing, Mishikal, Tanjee uses her skils and abilities to help aid those who are hurt and suffering. Able to cast healing spells on those she aids, she helps them heal faster. Her wish is to one day be a Priestss of Mishikal, like her mother.

NAME: Aeolis (pronounced Ay-olis)

Physical Description:
Aeolisis a Silvaesti Elf with strawberry blond hair and green eyes. 5'8" in height with a lithe build.

Personality:
Aeolis is a Silvanesti Elf and the brother of Tanjee. He's very arrogant, borderline insulting at times and a very brooding Elf who thinks humans are much lesser beings than Elves and doesn't like the mbeing in the city of Silvanost.

Flaws & Quirks:
Like Tanjee, Aeolis is rather opinionated but where Tanjee is being straightforward and honest, Aeolis is being condescending and rude. He glares more than anything. If you find yourself beiing treated nice by the Elf, better look for the dagger that will soon be sticking out of your back.

History & Background:
Aeolis wasn't born with any special abilites of skills. While he has the same sensitive senses like all Elves and is empatheitc like they are, he never felt a calling to study any sort of magic. What he DID discover was his ability to wield weapons crafted by the Elves. This skill allowed him to join the Elven guards that protected the city. After Myth'Alas left, Aeolis was able to advance through the ranks of the guard and more or less become their leader. This sense of authority quickly went to his head and he uses his position, while not all that significant, to his advantage, treating those in his command as though he were a dictator.

Skills & Powers:
An excellent shot with a bow and a skilled swardsman, Aeolis, while no where near as good as Prince Myth'Alas, is not to be taken lightly. His aim is true and he is always out for blood.

NAME: Ceridwyn (Nights Whisper)

Physical Description:
Ceridwyn is just below an average sized Elf female standing at four feet, ten inches. Her face is distinctly Elven with sharp features. Like most Elven females she is sensationally beautiful to behold, and her grace is beyond measure, especially to humans. Ceridwyn’s frame is very petite, even by Elven standards and she seems very fragile, as if the slightest touch will break her. Ceridwyn has very deep, dark chestnut colored eyes that almost appear black from a distance.

Personality:
Ceridwyn is a very quiet personality when there are issues at hand she doesn’t believe are of importance to her. She is far older than the average elf, and though she won’t give her age if asked, many records of her deeds date back 1,200 years. Having been graced with a much longer than usual life, one of the very unique gifts graced to her by Solinari she has been able to accomplish much for the cause of the light as well as for the Elven people. Ceridwyn was Nim’Sul’s third protégé, and rose through the ranks of the White Robed Sorcerers of Krynn quickly after taking the trials, and has been Chief Wizard of the Council of Magi for the last 120 years.

Flaws & Quirks:
Ceridwyn has at times been labeled as too quiet, and many wizards of the other orders have at times accused her of withholding information for her own gain. Those who know her best disagree and understand that she is the kind of personality that will only speak when it is necessary, at least in her mind. Ceridwyn is very closed off at times and has missed many opportunities in her life because she refused to open herself up to them. She is not shy, but she is overly cautious due to how she grew up and will often want to debate and discuss a problem before simply taking action. This quirk ironically is the exact reason she was chosen by the three factions of magi to lead the council as she makes a much better politician and beuracrat then she does a wizard in the world working for any cause. When she does chose to speak up, or when she latches onto a cause she embraces she will speak without any kind of filter, and will often act without rational and purely based on emotions. This has gotten her in trouble more times than not, especially when she was a protégé.

History & Background:
Ceridwyn’s past is a spotted tapestry of suffering and hardship. She was not born of royalty and her family was among the poorest of the Sylvanesti, working as weavers making barely more than slave wages. As a result of their economic position she learned magic during most of her formative years simply with the knowing that when she became emotionally charged, weird things happened. She was on the road of becoming a wild sorcerer when Nim’Sul happened to be in her family’s small village in the North of Silvanesti. He was passing through on his way back to Silvanost when he felt an incredible pull of magic. He tracked down the source and found a 64 year old (roughly the equivalent to 19 human years), emotionally immature elf female sitting on some rocks causing the fish in the pond at her feet to explode under water. After discussing their daughter’s unique gift with her family, she was taken to Silvanost and she began her training under Nim’Sul’s guidance. Nim’Sul, always patient, spent as much time teaching her to control herself as he did teaching her the delicacies of magic, but she always respected him, and in the end she passed her trials with ease and with almost no ill effects, a rarity among High Sorcerers.
Ceridwyn was released from Nim’Sul’s mentorship but remained in Silvanost, as he had become more like a Father to her than a mentor. She spent many years continuing to work with him, gaining in knowledge and power. Though less a protégé and more an equal, she began to show that there was more to her than met the eye, and she had an incredible affinity for deeply thinking through situations. It was this trait that caused Nim’Sul to encourage her to become a member of the Counsel of White Wizards, and her life as a politician was launched. She rose through the ranks swiftly and eventually became the head of all three Counsels, becoming Chief Wizard of the High Council of Magi.

Skills & Powers:
Ceridwyn is a devout white robed Wizard, and worships Solinari, god of the white moon. There always seems to be a special grace over her, and often times she wields magic that causes the jaws to drop of even the most powerful of Krynn’s wizards.

Character Has Been Altered, See Below

NAME: Shulamite (Dark Lady)

Physical Description:
Shulamite is half-elven but looks more Elven than human. Her ears from any distance except up close look distinctly Elven and her facial features have a sharp, Elven look to them. Shulamite is fair skinned with honey blond hair. When she is wielding magic shadows appear in her hair, weaving like braids and in constant motion. Her eyes are the most distinct thing about her. A gift from Tahkisis herself, an award for loyalty to the Dark Queen, Shulamite has the eyes of a black dragon, with all the abilities those eyes grant.

Personality:
Shulamite is angry at any force that opposes the will of the Dark Queen of Chaos. She will resort to her magic in any situation which she decides to be involved in and will use lethal and brutal force immediately. She has no regard for life outside those who serve the Dark Queen and will kill without remorse or regret, often inflicting as much pain as possible before dispatching her enemy.

Flaws & Quirks:
Shulamite snaps to action so quickly, it can often put her in a bad position. She will simply start blowing things up if she is not satisfied with what she sees. A lot of this has to do with her upbringing, and her Mentor is still trying to teach her that patience is often the best policy before unleashing the brutal efficiency of her magic. Perhaps one of the most gifted Magi on Krynn, she also moves with incredible lightening fast speed and she can draw on the strength of her victims to increase her longevity in a fight. Her Mentor has advised her on many occasions that her anger will be her downfall, and if she doesn’t get it in check she might find herself in a situation where her good luck and precise timing won’t be enough to get her out of it.

History & Background:
Very little is known about Shulamite’s history and background. What is known is she was the future daughter of Myth’Alas and Rayann, stolen and brought to the Astral Plane of Constellations to be raised and then sent back to Krynn to do the will of the Dark Godess of Chaos.

Skills & Powers:
Shulamite is a Black Robed Wizard of Tahkisis and incredibly efficient at the use of Ambient Magic as well as the river of magic that flows around Krynn. Shulamite’s heritage allows her to tap into both manifestations of magic simultaneously and makes her an extremely lethal foe. She also wields the “Staff of the Winds”, stolen from Nim’Sul who was the Chief Archmage of Silvanost and Advisor to the Speaker of the Stars. Shulamite stole the staff right before she manipulated her natural parents and caused them to kill Nim’Sul after she tore his soul from his body and encased it within a simple looking spellbook.

NAME: Pela

Physical Description:
5'10" in height with a slender, feminine build. Platnum colored hair with irridescent blue eyes.

Personality:
Pela can be very subdued or as brash as any seasoned warrior. Depending upon the situation, she can curse with the best of them or portray the prim and proper lady. One thing she always does, regarless, is speak her mind and get drectly to the point. She doesn't take kindly to anyone insulting her 'father' and will gladly delve out any punishment she sees fit for doing so.

Flaws & Quirks:
Inexperience and allows her anger to propell her actions.

History & Background:
Pela was discovererd on the side of the road by Bad Rock, a large creature with mystical abilities. He could have easily devoured her as a meal but instead he felt some compassion for the newborn welp who had not even been cleaned off after she had been born, Taking her into his care and rasing her as his own, he taught her to ways of magic as he knew them and trained her in the art of being a Mercinary. Now, with Bad Rock as her 'father', they travel the countryside together taking on jobs that come their way.

Skills & Powers:
Pela learned how to wield magic under Bad Rock's training but has never had any formal training as a mage. Her magic consists of water and ice spells. He taught her how to fight with weapons and hand to hand as well. He taught her how to fight dirty insuring she kept the upper hand in any confrontation.

Lac, couple questions.

What are his weaknesses? We all try to have a vulnerable point, for example, Kali has a temper that will cause her to absolutely lose control and go nuts sometimes, Rorie (dead) had an overconfidence that eventually got him killed, Pyramay is absolutely devastated by cold, Nol'Lore is addicted to beauty, Trystan is under confident and unsure, etc.

Come up with some ideas for what those might be.

Also, what is his race? With the languages and the skills I can see him either being half-elf or human, or possibly a Kagonesti Elf (the wild Elves). His skills are obviously that of a Ranger which is awesome. Let me know what you decide in regards to race.

Perhaps with some distant Elvish heritage. I do think Ranger would be the most likely vocation, but one not yet fully trained. Thus explaining some of his weaknesses.
Thoughts?

with the "slightly Asian" look about him I would say some Elven a few generations back would be appropriate.

We are all currently located in an area he wouldn't have access to unless he had permission to be there (Wizard's residence) so I propose this, The whole party will be heading to the main Keep in Heartlund soon. How quickly depends on the frequency of posts. If you wanted to make him a resident of Heartlund (it's a large city) that would fit him right in. The towers are obviously the big focus right now, so perhaps he could be aiding the Solamic Knights or such. Just thinking of how you can insert yourself quicker but I will leave it to you.

I would say APPROVED unless Ray or Mistress has anything to add.

I will wait to insert him for a while. I want to get a better feel as to his surroundings and such. I like the idea of him aiding the Solamic Knights. Again I have a few rough edges to work out yet.

As I am always trying to improve on Saul's character, without altering his basic being. In reviewing his character profile I see a small flaw that I would like to correct. That flaw being how he learned the things he knows. IE: the Elvish language, tracking, stragety, the knowledge of the forest and all it contains. I was wondering if it would not make sense that, in his distastant past, perhaps he was trained or raised for a short period, to a small extent by some Elven master. That master now being dead, the tradgety of the loss of the closest thing to a parent, and his youth at the time has caused him to block it from his mind subconsciencly. The memory of which only now is beginning to resurface. Thoughts?

I look at this alteration more of a clarification than anything else

Upon further consideration I think the enhancments to Saul's profile and history will be better served as additions to his story line. Particularly as they are more clarifications that actual additions to his being.
