I think that would be a very good idea, Tiph. When Krakyn comes back he can resume writing for Beldegir but until then, have at it.

Actually, I have had another idea... "Lightning has struck me brain"... What if we do a little switcharoo.

I was thinking that a comrade of Beldegir's could arrive with news that his lands are in peril and that they require his assistance. He will have no choice to lead, but appoint this Dwarven soldier to assist the party in his stead.

This new Dwarven character can be a true 'Community Character' then, and Beldegir can return to the group when Krakyn returns. At that point and time we can decide whether or not to keep around the new Dwarven character. How does that sound?

I'll whip a character and graphic and bring him at some time and until then we'll just pull Beldegir along.

Part of my login in this thinking, is that Tiphereth's fighting skills have not really been needed it most of the fighting scenarios thus far, and so I am just going to play him as more of a Bard... providing some inspiration, documenting events when needed and helping when required. In truth, his magical skills are very Druidic — Elemental and Healing, but thus far he has not had much of an opportunity to utilize his healing spells, as he is yet an outsider to the group.

The new Dwarven character can assist in the battles when required. I'll write him in at an appropriate time and I'll provide a lot of history for him in a character sketch so that anyone can run him.

I like that idea, infact he could be summoned away by the fact that the Dwarven King has died. The clans must elect a new king and a gathering of a grand council has been ordered to accomplish that. As the clans were united under the one king, now there is a void that must be filled and as in all political voids, old rivalries and power grabs are inevitable. He, being a clan leader, could then order the new Dwarf to act in his stead vowing him to assist LAc, Ssinjin and the others. And renewing the alliance that once bound his race to the races of Elf and Man.
Thoughts?

Actually I have an idea already that will work, but I like the idea of Beldegir being called away because the Dwarven King has passed. That will work perfectly.

The Dwarf's name will be Othegarr 'White-tail' Ironhearth. I will write a detailed history about his 'House' or 'Clan' and incorporate his coming with the death of the King. Othegarr is of a different House than Beldegir and their families are actually rivals.

After I write-up his character sketch and post it, you are all welcome to modify and add to it in the case that my details stray too much from the unforeseen future. Smile

Edit - I will also maintain your idea, Lac of the Dwarves requiring an ambassador, so-to-speak.

From most of my reading Dwarven society was made up of clans as opposed to houses. But that is just my perpective.

On tolkien gateway they use the term clan and house interchangeably. There's really little difference in the meaning.

I have made up a graphic for the new Dwarf and have made in an Irontfist. So he will be Othargren (o-thar-gren) Ironfist. I dropped the 'white tail' thing, I had something to build on the name but changed my mind.

I'll do a little research and make him as accurate as possible. I am staying with a graphic of Gimli, for him to make it more accommodating for everyone else.

From Tolkien Gateway:

The seven clans of the Dwarves were:

* Longbeards, Durin's Folk, originally from Khazad-dûm.
* Firebeards, originally from Nogrod. Paired with the
* Broadbeams, originally from Belegost.
* Ironfists, originated in the Orocarni in the far East. They were paired with the
* Stiffbeards.
* Blacklocks, originated in the Orocarni. They were paired with the
* Stonefoots.

The Ironfists were one of the seven houses of the Dwarves that dwelt in the mountains of the East. They were originally paired with the Stiffbeards.

It is possible that the Ironfists sent troops to fight in the War of the Dwarves and Orcs during the Third Age. For it is said that Durin's folk called for aid from houses of other fathers of the Dwarves.

Cool. I think since Beldegir seemed familiar with Khazad-dûm (it seemed so from what Krakyn posted) that he would be a Longbeard. Sound alright?

Thanks, and sorry for my lengthy post. I am just taking some time for character expansion during our time in the Golden Wood. I had no other choice but to make Nevtherra a student of Galadriel since the Lady of Lothlorien is the main 'seer'. I set it up that there is a connection between the two as Galadriel herself were aware of what Nevtherra was saying, possibly even directing her on occasion.

Never apologize for lengthy posts, Tiph. It's what gives the other writers something to bounce off of as well as, as you stated, allow expansion of the character. Besides, we need this break in the action to allow this depth of our characters to be cultivated. There's a story to each one of our characters and it's during these types of settings in stories more of their past is revealed giving readers a better insight to why they may have the personalities they do.

Thanks. Naturally more of Tiphereth's mission will be revealed in time, but I am trying to 'water him down' somewhat and change his role in the party to make for a better a fit. His own story can easily blend in with whatever events may come about in the future.

I alluded to other people of Arkauld residing within the world of Middle Earth, which is a very probably scenario but the chances of Tiphereth ever meeting others, aside from Nevtherra would be a little too unbelievable.

I am going to try and reveal some more about, Tiphereth's race and the creation of his world which everyone may find quite interesting.

I should also add, that Nevtherra's ability to forsee, Tiphereth's future is bound to people of her own world. She cannot foresee things (yet) of those within Middle Earth as despite her 100 years upon it's soil she is still not in tune with her surroundings as the ancient Lady of the Golden Wood would be.

Perhaps, Galadriel somehow guided Tiphereth to Nevtherra in order for one Outlander to guide another?

That sounds plausable, if not Galadriel then a higher force?

I was re-reading previous posts here in 'Peanuts' and saw that Brianna, being a Dunedan, would be able to speak Dwarven and Elven. But, how could she do this as she was orphaned at the age of 3 and raised by the Rohirrim? Or, are they born with it? Just got a little confused and don't want to mess up as I may already have done in my last post. LOL

Brianna would speak Rohirric, the common tongue of Westron and perhaps Dunlending (depending on her travels)

Dunlending is a human language that the Western Dwarves would know, but Othargren is from the East. Lac'Nal, may understand a little more 'Khuzdul' than the average person because of his lands close proximity and his relationship with the Eastern Dwarves. He would still be far from fluent though. The Dwaves are a very secretive folk and they would be hard pressed to teach any non-dwarf their language and in fact they would be insulted by non-dwarves trying to converse with them in their own tongue.

Brianna would not know any Elvish... maybe a few words. She is culturally a Rohirrim despite her Dunedain blood, her adoptive people would not have encouraged any multi-culturalism. Wink

I have posted a link for the Middle Earth languages in the World of Gladsheim topic. It may shed a little light on the extent of the world's tongues.

J.R.R. Tolkien was a Linguist Professor and so he wrote from what he knew and developed actual language for all the peoples of Middle Earth. The Rohirric language is based on old Saxon, so that gives you an idea on what it might sound like, kind of Germanic with stronger trills on their 'r's' I would assume, might actually sound similar to a South African accent.

I love anthropology and the study of language is the key to tracing the history of a culture, you can ask me any time you have a question concerning the languages of Middle Earth, they are fascinating.

Hmmmm... very cool post Jack. Enlightening.

So, we have two bodies of water right now.

Brianna has just seen the reflection of another Rohirrim. So we have the introduction of another character at the moment.

Tiphereth is standing in a stream running beneath that bridge upon which stands Lac and Jin.

Has Jack materialized by a new body of water or is he near by one of the other characters. If, so who?
