Sionn sat back and let Torri have the table, it was obvious to anyone watching that he and his sister had a very special bond, despite all the goofing off and occasional irresponsibility they saw from him he did have moments when he was serious and business like. He noticed Aurora had a slightly strange look and he knew that she was probably curious about him not giving the whole story. As Torri finished up speaking to Rhaine Sionn placed his index finger on the letter and while he stood up he slid it across the table to him. With a smile he spoke, "You deserve to see it for yerself lad, but it's all in the letter just as ma' sister said it."

He smiled and turned to Aurora. With a smile he spoke, "Lass, would ya care to have a wee bite of those doughnut things at Cafe Du Monde? It's only two blocks from here and I could use a wee bit o' somethin' sweet."

Aurora seemed slightly hesitant but with a little persuasion he got her to agree. Torri looked at him slightly curiously but he gave her a reassuring look and he and Aurora exited Saint Peter's Guest House and headed down the street. He spoke as the two of them were now alone and the streets were still almost completely barren at this earlier hour in the day, "Aurora, I jus' wanted ya to know that I left out the bit regarding yer bow on purpose, the truth is we still don't know the whole connection and the less people that know about that the better until Da has a chance to put the pieces together. I was no trying to discount or disregard your being here, I just had to make a quick decision and I went with it, I just wanted you to understand."

Ch 2: When in Rome... or New Orleans - Page 3 Indian10Aurora smiled at Sionn and nodded her head. "I figured you had your reasons, Sionn and I understand. You owe me no explanation but I thank you for it just the same." She followed him to the Cafe, looking up to see Eryn landing on a window sill high above them. She shook her head at the raptor, "Eryn is still unsure of you, Sionn. But I do believe you are on the road to earning Beau's trust." She almost said 'As well as my own' but stopped herself, wanting to focus on the task at hand and not the good looking, sweet talking Scotsman. Her dark eyes smiled up into his green ones, "Sam is good to take me and my fellow travelers in. I do hope he knows how much I appreciate it as well as attempting to repair my ceremonial dress." She looked away as the sat down at a small table, the waitress coming over to them. Aurora ordered a simple chocolate chip bagel, chocolate milk and some cream cheese to spread on the bagel.

As she spread a little of the cream cheese onto one half of the bagel she became thoughtful. "I am not as educated as you and Torri, Sionn. I have not seen nor done the things you and your sister have done. But, I am open to constructive criticism on how to handle......life outside the protection of my wooded mountains." She took a bite, a little of the cream cheese leaving it's mark at the corner of her mouth.

Ch 2: When in Rome... or New Orleans - Page 3 RhainBanner
As his all of his secrets were laid out before him on the table like a cup of spilled juice, Rhain could only stare for a moment with a dumb look on his face. He'd had small opportunities for profit laid in his lap before, but never had a huge opportunity all but slap him in the face before. This was quite a new experience, perhaps even worth exploring a city for. After all, there were even some beasties following them around to make him feel at least a wee bit more like home.

"Alright then," he said with a relaxing smile, "I s'pose I'm part of the team now. What d'ya need me to do?" As he spoke, he took the letter from Sam and opened it to glance it over, although now that everything had been laid out for him, he was less curious.

Ch 2: When in Rome... or New Orleans - Page 3 SionnBanner

Sionn looked up at the raptor that always followed Aurora and he looked back at her as she spoke about the creature not trusting him yet. He laughed softly and spoke, "Perhaps after she sees my charming side she will warm up to me a wee bit more aye?"

He smiled to her as he leaned back and the waitress took their orders. As Aurora ordered Sionn smiled and spoke next, "I would like some of those beignets things I keep hearing about, I have never had them, they sound interesting." The waitress gave him a flirtatious look as she cast her eyes on his face but Aurora would notice he didn't return the expression, instead he looked back to Aurora almost immediately and his deep green eyes lingered on her own. There was something deep, more than just a gaze, but he listened as she spoke and nodded his head softly as he answered, "Sam is a Dwarf, they like to hide behind their grumpiness but they are also soft in the heart when it comes to their friends. Their loyalty runs deep and a friend of a friend is treated as well as the friend them self. I know I raze him a lot, but he has been a friend of our family since as long as I can remember... in fact I can't remember any part of my life where he was not around. He moved here when he 'retired' about ten years ago or so to take over Saint Peter's Guest House, it has been the traditional retirement pasture in his family since New Orleans was founded, there's a lot of history, and secrets, in that old building."

He smiled, very flirtatiously at Aurora this time as he leaned back and the waitress returned with their food. Sionn looked down at the fried dough sprinkled in powdered sugar and inhaled deeply, "Oh AYE, I can already understand what people see in these little buggers!"

Aurora spoke about her experience and Sionn leaned forward again, speaking with a soft tone to his voice, "Aye lass, don't worry about it, T and I will show you the ropes and teach you the secrets of working in the field. The real trick is not gettin' yerself killed aye?"

He winked and popped another friend beignet into his mouth, chewing politely and sipping the black coffee. They laughed and enjoyed a little more time together before Sionn paid for the meal and again Aurora would notice he didn't return the flirtatious advances of the actress, instead turning his attention to her, "That ought to get us to the next meal aye?"

He smiled and chanced a reach for her hand so he could escort her back to the Guest House where he was certain the others were waiting and ready by now. The truth in all this was more than anything he was interested in just getting some quiet, one on one time with this incredibly sexy Native American lass, she was truly different than any woman he had ever met.

Ch 2: When in Rome... or New Orleans - Page 3 Indian10Aurora did indeed notice that Sionn wasn't flirting with the waitress like she thought he would be and when he openly gave her a very flirtatiously smile she blushed, not knowing how to react. But his antics over eating the sweet beignets she couldn't help but chuckle, her dark eyes twinkling.

She'd enjoyed herself thoroughly with him, laughing and smiling more than she ever had. She found that she loved his green eyes and when he took her hand she blushed again, but didn't pull away. Instead, she looked down at the difference.....her golden brown skin next to his pearl white. When she looked back up, she smiled back at the gentle smile he gave her and gave his hand a soft squeeze before allowing him to lead her back to Sam's. Eryn flew above them, watching for trouble and keeping a hawk's eye on Sionn.

Ch 2: When in Rome... or New Orleans - Page 3 TorriBanner

Torri watched as Sionn and Aurora made their way out of Sam’s Inn. Glancing over at Sam she saw the leveled look he gave her just before he excused himself, grumbling something about making dinner for all the guests he now had. Torri glanced over her shoulder at the small man as he disappeared and kept her eyes in that direction for a few moments longer. Finally she turned her green eyes to Rhain and stared at him for a few, silent, awkward moments. She could see he was growing uncomfortable under her close scrutiny. Finally narrowing her eyes a bit, she took a deep breath and let it out slowly.

”First things we need t’do is see what abilities you actually DO have. Where yer weaknesses are and where yer strengths lie. Trust me….it’s the same thing the Poes and their kind will be doing. ‘Specially now that you be in our company. They won’t hesitate to cut you down. As far as they are concerned, you’d just be a bug on the windshield of their grand scheme.”

Torri was never known for sugar coating anything nor was she one for nothing other than being straight forward and to the point. Somehow she had an idea Rhain was like that too, once you got past the secrets he tried to hide. And he’d done a great job so far. After all, he’d lived this long with them. She gave him a small smile then.

”C’mon….lets go take a tour o’the big city. You’d be amazed at what we could find to get into there.”

She got up from the table and walked to the door of the kitchen and looked back at the young man.

”Let’s get ye settled into yer room on the second floor with the rest of us. I need to pick up me bow anyway. Dun like to go far without it.”

She saw the odd look the young man gave her and chuckled, shaking her head. He would be amazed at how well her kind have adapted to society over the years. Gone were the days of the curved, wooden bow. Like all the other races, the Fara had adapted the use of technology in the advances on the weapons they used. Why not take advantage of such things?

As Rhain picked up his bag and followed Torri up the stairs, she showed him to a room that was on the opposite end of the hallway from where Aurora’s room was. So when you went up the steps, Sionn and Torri’s rooms were closest to the stairs while Aurora’s room was down the hall to the left and Rhain’s was down the hall to the right.

After a few minutes, Torri emerged from her own room wearing what appeared to be a leather vest over the t-shirt she had been wearing. While it didn’t seem odd or out of place, it held her bow in carefully placed places that she could easily pull it out and click it together in a matter of a few seconds. Ah technology….it was a beautiful thing.

Before she left, she excused herself from Rhain and walked down the hall where Taeryn was busy working on his computer again. She stepped into the room and let him know where she was going and with who. She was rewarded with Tae lifting his head and looking at her a moment before giving her that charming smile of his and wishing her happy touring. For some reason that didn’t set well with her and she furrowed her brows before turning and practically stomping out of the Inn with Rhain in tow, totally confused at her change of moods.

The least she was hoping for was at least SOME sort of indication the snobby Brit was a bit….put out by her company. Instead, he seemed indifferent or worse yet, as though he was encouraging her to venture out with someone else. And what should she care? It wasn’t like the man had said or done anything to her to make her think otherwise. So why did it infuriate her to no end that he didn’t at least try to make her think he was a little disappointed?

Men! They were complicated creatures!

Suddenly she realized she’d been walking at a pretty good clip in her angry thoughts and blinked as she turned to see Rhain giving her another odd look, trying to make sure he kept up with her yet tried to stay out of her way. She stopped and turned to look at him, her cheeks coloring slightly at her own embarrassment in what she’d done.

”Forgive me, Rhain. I tend to get caught up in me thoughts from time to time and forget I have company. I make a lousy tour guide.”

Pushing thoughts of Taeryn to the back of her mind, Torri slowed her pace and walked slowly through New Orleans with Rhain pointing out different land marks and the significance they had on history. Not from the City or Country’s perspective, but from the perspective of her ancestors and his as well. She spoke in their native Gaelic to keep others from hearing her but she knew it was important to try and teach the young man about the things that took place throughout history that were tied to the preservation of the Earth and making sure the balance was kept in place.
