PostSubject: Everlasting Night - OOC   Thu Aug 27, 2009 5:03 pm

I decided to restart this story with a different scenario. The old one was going no where.

I am just going to fiddle around with this one and see if I cannot, get something concrete started. Wish, Amanda was around for it, since she has an extensive knowledge of the 1920's, but oh well. Still need to think of a good story line, and it's one that will probably receive more inspiration as we near Halloween.

So The Count "could" still be a player, I presume? If not it is no big deal I am sure I could come up with another.

YES! Of course. He will fit much better into this setting as a Vampire who could assist in keeping the world of Everlasting Night at bay. (Otherwise he'd be a bad guy). Smile

You can just grab him from the archive and re-do his history to match the Chicago setting.

Cool. I like da count, ah, ah, aaaaaaah.

It's still going to be 'horror' style writing and I'll try and weave a cool world to start things off. This scenario does not have the benefit of being based on well known works that provide a plethora of information. We can pull from Cthulhu and stand supernatural lore for the monsters, but the setting is a little more complicated.

We have 1930's style world, where magic exists and is regulated. So in a sense it's somewhat similar to Heroes in the way that 'super-heroes' are out laws and meta's have to be registered. Those that practice the magical arts are generally viewed with distrust, and magic in general is not looked at as being beneficial to society. Big difference is that beings from the Everlasting Night realm also exist in society, so people can play the roles of supernatural creatures.

I am however, only going to allow one Vampire to exist and that's the Count. The way he is being written is very classic and I don't want this story turning into an Anne Rice Novel or even WORSE, Twilight *spits the foulness from his mouth*

There are so many possibilities and frankly, I don't believe we need ever have repeats of the same race or character. Magic is magic, though.

I'll eventually add some information on Magic, which is of a classic style where, components and rituals are often required to cast a spell. As long people stay away from D&D style magic and one word, Harry Potter spells, then it's all good. Smile I don't want to take the fun out of magic, but I just think in this type of setting magic should be a little more complex to make it interesting. I mean, if most magic-users were all powerful then they would rule the world.

The one major thing that will exist, is the fact that 'iron' can nullify most forms of magic. It's why a simple sword or bullet can be the ultimate equalizer. The use of Iron, is usually what defines a Human. Iron or Silver allows a normal Human to combat the forces of Everlasting Night. (of course the iron or silver object has to be a particular shape, in the form of a charm to work)

So I started off a post to set the stage, but in no way is it necessary to try and build onto Waryn Parsefal's event right now. I think we need to spread out a bit and let our characters naturally grow into one another.

I'll most likely be introducing many other minor characters to enrich the story and perhaps this may turn out to be another story that we can once in a while jump into when the others reach a lull.

As I have said before, this story line is in no way meant to be a fast mover, and is certainly not meant for idle role playing dialogue. Here we should all feel relaxed to sit back and take the time to write some inventive posts to carve out this new world.

Well sinister yes... but evil... not necessarily. If the Count is originally from the realm of Everlasting Night, now settled in the Human realm, he may be a protector of it, from the stand point that he now considers this HIS territory.

If he is Vampiric, then he will always be viewed with scrutiny by incantors and feared by the common-folk as a monster. Of course, none will ever suspect what he is so long as the Count takes all the necessary precautions to protect his anonymity.

I personally think you can have a lot of fun with this. You just have to develop the Count's cover story well and play him from that stand point. If you want, you can even have the Watcher's of Pentacalium aware of him, but has long been a trusted ally, despite the fact that he does what is in the nature of his kind to do. Perhaps his services to the Pentacalium are of such importance that they turn a blind eye to his activities.

Just letting everyone know I edited Peg's bio o reference the school she teaches at. After doing some research found this school to have been in service since the late 1800's.

What do you guys think about the Count sending an endowment check for saw $250,000 dollars to the Josephinum Academy in care of Peg. Perhaps have Victor deliever the envelope with only her name on it and instruction that it is to go to the school, have a secretary place in her mailbox at school. $250.000 in 1935 was ALOT of money.
Thoughts?

Guess it's up to RPM. I am not sure what the connection may be right now, but if you have something up your sleeve then why not. I just believe that such a large sum of money, would significantly change her character.

Not for her personnal but for the school. An endowment for the Academy. My thought was to establish the Count as a philathopist, as a cover.

Ah. Well then, I believe that would be an excellent way for the two characters to come in contact. No doubt the Count may wish to take a tour of his investment. Twisted Evil

He only supports those institutions with "Incantor" ties. I thought it might be a good way for them to meet. And yes he would desire to inspect his investment. Twisted Evil

That sounds good to me. It seems you are both, more Mallathar which is cool. Of course I can't see a Vampire being Pentacalium of course, although the Count may very well have ties with them.

Right now I am just putting Waryn out there and I am going to develop the motives for the murders of the Black Hats a little more, that seems a good storyline to elaborate on at the moment. As the the Count, steps more into the light (hee hee, nice pun, eh?) then I believe that will present another interesting side of the story, that I can easily write Waryn into. I will most like find a way to merge the two story lines, and probably throw in some more baddies. I am interested, however, in seeing what THE REVEREND, will do. He's seems very EVIL. Don't know what is about a stern Reverend but they scare me more than were-wolves. affraid

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The money from the Count would be a very good plot but....how would he know Peg was an incantor? She keeps that part of her life very, very secretive. And she would be a little jealous the school is getting the money and not her for use in her 'other' worldly endeavors. The school is an upstanding Catholic school that has no clue what she is after the sun goes down. The whole reason why she got the job there wil be revealed in time.

Twisted Evil

Of course that's not to say he couldn't sense that about her. After all, he IS a vampire.

Should be interesting to see how that will all go.

That was a very sweet post SubBear. I like your style. Smile

I'll try and lay some more 'bread crumbs' in Waryn's posts.

Just had a thought of how the Count could meet Peg. Perhaps at a social event, say a play or the opera, a rare book auction, maybe even an antique and art auction. Thus perking his intrest, albeit for alternative reasons. Then from that encounter become aware of her association with the Catholic School. The proximety to religious artifact might prove uncomfortable for the Count, so him visiting the scool may be difficult. Then thru Victor's inquiries discover that she is an incanter and Victor become aware of the detective's snooping around as well. It would take some time to develope all this. Or the detective could become aware of Victor's inquiries leading him to have at least a passing intrest in the Count.

o.O

An Opera would be the best way to get them introduced. While she lives a double life, in order to keep suspisions down, she HAS to at least have a date or two from time to time. Perhaps make her "date" one of the male members of the Mallathar’s. They aren't involved in any way except with their involvement with the Mallathar's and they step out from time to time in public to keep the them from looking too suspicious.

How do dat sound?

Cool. Also, Samhain is coming up, which would naturally be a very significant times to all incantors. Aside from all the magical activity I think that at that point we could also imagine that there may be several masquerades in their society. A way to protect their identities while moving about in the open.

I am thinking the Count could host an annual masquerade around the time of Samhain or even before where both Mallethars and Pentacalium get together under a banner of truce.

How does that sound?
